Turning 45: Lessons in Healing, Growth, and Strength
Never have I felt this much peace, strength, and grace within myself. Hello, 45 — I’m ready to embrace you fully.
Turning 45 feels… big. Not because of the number itself, but because of everything this past year has held.
When I imagined my mid-40s, I thought of steady rhythms—raising my daughters, growing HeartSpace Wellness, continuing my path in yoga, mindfulness, wellness and psychology. What I didn’t expect was a health scare that would change everything: my cancer diagnosis.
This past year has been a season of deep healing—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It has been a time of learning, unlearning, surrendering, and discovering a strength I didn’t know I had.
The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
When I first heard the word cancer, my world shifted. Not just for me—but for my young girls. My first fear wasn’t about myself; it was about them.
Would I be there to watch them grow? To guide them? To hold their hands through their own milestones?
I never asked, “Why me?” Instead, I found myself asking, “What is God’s plan for me in this?”
Even in fear, there was a quiet knowing: this was going to be a chapter—not the whole story.
I leaned into every tool I had—mindfulness, breathwork, and the grounding rituals I had spent years teaching to others. But I also allowed myself to feel it all. To cry. To crumble. To be messy and imperfect—and to trust that healing wasn’t about holding it all together, but about surrendering and showing up, one moment at a time.
The Mindset Shift
One of the biggest lessons this journey gave me? Healing is not about “bouncing back.”
It’s about showing up, again and again, no matter how small the step. It’s about trusting your body, even when it feels broken. It’s about asking:
“What do I need today?”
And learning that the answer might change tomorrow.
I had to let go of perfection. To surrender the illusion of control. To soften my grip—and in that softening, I found a deeper strength.
What Healing Taught Me
At 45, here’s what I know to be true:
The smallest rituals matter. A glass of lemon water, a quiet breath before a meal, a 5-minute stretch… these anchor us.
Rest is not weakness. I had to learn (sometimes the hard way) that rest is medicine, and it’s where real healing happens.
Community heals. The support from my family, friends, and clients reminded me that I’m never alone in this journey.
Mindset is everything. Healing is as much about our thoughts and emotions as it is about our bodies.
Turning 45: Stronger & Softer
Today, I look at my body—with its scars, its new shape, its quiet resilience—and I feel proud. I feel grateful. Not just for surviving, but for becoming.
45 feels like a threshold: a step into deeper wisdom, deeper compassion, and a renewed commitment to my mission—helping other women navigate their own transitions with strength and grace. Whether it’s peri-menopause, postpartum, or personal healing, we all deserve spaces of support and care.
What’s Next
I’m completing my Holistic Nutritionist certification and deepening my training in Trauma-Informed Yoga—both of which are shaping the next chapter of HeartSpace Wellness.
My vision is to offer more resources, workshops, and safe spaces for women in every stage of life—whether you're navigating hormonal shifts, personal healing, or simply seeking a stronger connection to your own body and mind.
I understand that the world of wellness can sometimes feel overwhelming, with so many different paths and modalities to choose from. HeartSpace is designed to be your first stop—a grounded, supportive platform where you can gain clarity, confidence, and connection before exploring deeper or more specific healing approaches.
If you’re reading this and going through your own season of change—whether it’s health-related, hormonal, or emotional—know this: you are not alone. Every small step you take matters. Every breath, every pause, every act of self-kindness is part of your healing.
Closing Reflection
At 45, I’m not chasing who I used to be.
I’m stepping fully into who I’m becoming—scars, wisdom, and all.
What has a life transition taught you about your own strength? I’d love for you to share in the comments or send me a message. Let’s keep growing—together. 💛
